TAG NewsSeptember 9, 2005 - Effective10/10/05 immediately following the TAGTM World Championships TAG Racing International/TAGUSA have made the decision to refer back to the original exhaust specifications as supplied on the manufacturer's homologation forms for all engines that were submitted for approval. Thus changing the tech for the exhaust to be measured in degrees. These rules will be in effective for the start of the 2006 TAG USA season. This decision was not easy. After several conference calls with the TAG Work Group and based on the decisions made in those calls we felt we had no other choice than to agree with their decision to change the Leopard exhaust rule back to the original submitted factory homologation form. As a result we at TAG Racing International and TAG USA felt that in fairness to all importers and manufactures we are obligated to revert back to the exhaust dimensions originally submitted by their factory homologation forms. Section 2 of the rulebook will not change, except for the exhaust dimension and will include any changes that have been submitted and approved. NO other changes will be approved unless they are submitted to TAG Racing International/TAGUSA first, and all procedures will be followed with no exceptions. Bearings are open but must be of the same type, material and design as the OEM bearings. Seals are open, but they must be unmodified, and must be installed as the manufacturer intended. Gaskets are open but must meet the manufactures thickness and cannot be added or deleted. Fasteners are open excluding internal fasteners, specifically carburetor butterfly screws and reed screws must remain OEM as supplied with the engine. The TAG World Championships will allow the 2005 Leopard E series using the 171 degree exhaust height rule to compete in TAG Expert only, this class weight has been changed to 355 lbs. for all approved Expert engines, and will be run on Bridgestone YJB compound tires. Through an agreement with the TAG Work Group consisting of WKA, KART, IKF, SKUSA, TAG Racing International and TAG USA the IAME Leopard importers, Italian Motors and Russell Karting Specialties, will as of the effective date of 10/10/05 thru 11/30/05 make available to each of their respective current pre "E" series Leopard engine owners the 2005 Leopard exchange kit. The kit will include the cylinder, piston, piston ring, wrist pin, wristpin bearing, circlips and base gasket. An exchange form including the kit cost will be available at www.italianmotors.com and at www.russellkarting.com. As a reminder, all entrants in the TAG World Championships must be a TAG USA or TAG Racing International member. To compete in the World Championships you must currently be in the top ten in a TAG Racing International qualifying series The classes listed as a non-qualifying class are the Expert class and the local option NCMP spec Leopard class. You must be a TAGUSA or TAG Racing International member to compete in the Expert class and for the NCMP local option spec Leopard class a daily membership is included with your entry.
